How they are related

Do all owls eat rats?
No. Owls are an order of roughly two hundred species with very different diets, and while small mammals are the mainstay for many of them, others specialise in insects, birds, amphibians or fish. Body size matters too: a small owl cannot take an adult brown rat at all. The general statement that owls eat rodents is fair; the specific statement that any given owl eats rats is not.
How does an owl find a rat in complete darkness?
Chiefly by hearing.
