How they are related

Both are even-toed hoofed mammals, but they belong to different families. The alpaca is a camelid, sharing that family with llamas, guanacos, vicunas and the camels. Goat is also used loosely for a number of wild Capra species and for animals such as the mountain goat, which is a different genus entirely.
