Old World vultures belong to Accipitridae alongside eagles, so those vultures genuinely are close relatives of eagles. New World vultures — including condors and the turkey vulture — belong to a separate lineage, and their resemblance to Old World vultures is convergent. At distance, watch the flight. A vulture soars for long periods with barely a wingbeat, often holding the wings in a shallow V, and rocks slightly as it rides thermals.
